And lastly for tonight, I finally remembered just what it was that XSARA’s EP reminded me of a little … Unsophisticates were a frankly unclassifiable band from London active back in the mid-to-late 90’s, with an inspired penchant for doing strange things with metallic objects onstage. Hard to find nowadays sadly - but it looks like Amazon might have their three singles available...

Released today, here’s the cool new 5 track EP from London artist XSARA. Certainly worth a listen or seven. In my opinion; A wonderful take on a spectrum of influences including blues, jazz, electronica and the sound Day-Glo paint would make if it possibly could (which I’m sure it secretly wishes was so). Visit www.xsara.co.uk for details on buying the EP, check gig dates...

Spacerock par excellence here in the form of Hallogallo 2010, current (and so far mainly live) project of Michael Rother (Neu!), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and Aaron Mullen (Tall Firs). Blinkgürtel / Drone Schlager is released on Shelley’s ‘Vampire Blues’ label and I picked it up and downloaded from the Boomkat site [£1.79]. Boomcat blurb follows: “These two tracks are...

Bought [£5] even before I listened to it … Does that make me a ‘Fan’ ? 9/10 marks from me, -1 point for not being longer … Thanks to Loose Morals for flagging up that this was released. :)

Always a good day when someone sends some new music. And this one from Clara Engel certainly has me interested. In addition, below is a sampler of the ‘Madagascar EP’ which is also available on vinyl in the UK via Vox Humana @ Bandcamp. Clara herself has a lot more digital LPs and EPs available direct via Bandcamp too. Long moody tracks … great stuff.
